Be informed . . .  so you can make the right choice.

DeLarue Dance Centre, founded in 1970 by Carol DeLarue, has been providing dance education for 39 years and continues to strive for excellence in the art of dance.  Carol's vision was to provide quality, structured dance education in a fun and family  environment.  This dream is now reality, and along with the energy and commitment of a dedicated staff, this philosophy is being extended into the next generation.

Classes are held in an organized environment where emphasis is placed on learning each dance subject thoroughly, with focus given to proper technique.  This environment not only builds strong dancers, but instills discipline and self-esteem, as well as an  appreciation for dance and the  performing arts.

For the more serious dancer, the dedication given to proper technique and the excellence in ballet training gives our dancers the opportunity to progress to a higher level in the dance world.

▪▪ Hair should be neatly pulled up.
▪▪ The first lesson of each month is designated as free dress.  Students are allowed to wear the leotard and stockings of their choice.
▪▪ It is very important that students follow the dress code.  Dress codes makes it possible for the instructors to see the dancers form in order to make corrections and to assure that a student is using her body properly.  Wearing the same color allows a teacher to observe body lines from dancer to dancer.  Hip-Hop classes are more lenient because of the style of dance.
▪▪ Put students name on all dance shoes & bags.

  ●
Statements are handed out in class during the 1st week of each month, unless mailing is requested.  Monthly tuition fees are due by the 10th of the  month.   Payments can either be made at the drop slot at the studio or by mail.  We strongly recommend payment by check or money order.
  ●
Costume charges are billed on November 1st and are due by November 30th.  They must be paid in full along with December tuition before your child's costume can be ordered and/or received.
  ●
Performance fee is billed on March 1st and  must be paid along with your final balance in order for a family to receive performance tickets.
  ●
A $ 5.00 late charge will be added to accounts which are not paid by the 25th of the month.                                                A $10.00 charge will be added per NSF transaction.
   Pictures:
   ●
Pictures will be taken on a designated day in April, at DeLarue Dance Centre.  Picture request forms indicating the different packages available will be handed out to all students during the 1st week of March and must be returned with a check payable to Jay Faugot Photography.  Each student will receive a notice during the Month of April reflecting their picture time.  Pictures will be handed out during the last week of dancing.  If you do not receive your pictures, you may contact our office at 234-0495 to make arrangements.

  Visiting Day:
  ●
Visiting days by parents and immediate family are observed during a designated time in November.  You will receive a note with the visiting times for your dancer.  All other times, parents are asked not to observe in the class rooms due to the obvious distraction that is caused.  Students will be looking to the parent for approval and miss important points of instruction.  The teacher should have the authority during class.

   Feedback:

We make every effort to tell students when they are doing well.  We also offer constructive criticism or suggestions for improvement, which should be considered a compliment that the dancer is being noticed.  Your understanding will help your child accept criticism in the positive manner in which it is intended.
  Discipline:
  ●
If a child disturbs the rest of the class and is interfering with the teachers instructions, the student may be asked to take a brief time out or leave the class for a period to refocus in order to participate accordingly.  If you feel you need a conference with a teacher, write the teacher a note and leave it in the mailbox in order for a conference to be arranged.
  Communication:
  ●
Parents, please attempt to introduce yourself to your child's instructor.  Share information with them regarding new developments, emotional issues, health issues or changes that will help instructors communicate more effectively with your child.

  Placement:
  ●
Students are placed in their proper classes according to age, grade level, and ability.  Emphasis is given to age and grade level in order for a student to participate with peers on the same social level.  Whenever it is necessary for ability to be considered in placing a student, this decision can only be made by the teacher, not the parent or student.

  Cancellations:
  ●
If a student decides dancing is not in their interest, it is best to let them complete the month of paid tuition.  If this decision  is made between January and June the situation becomes a little more complicated.  Costumes cannot be cancelled after January therefore refunds are not an option.  Dropping classes after the performance pieces have been choreographed and students have been placed impacts the entire class and disrupts the choreography.  We feel it is important to teach a child that quitting at a time that affects other peers is not a considerate choice.  Most students should know by December if they like the class and would like to continue.

  Keep Informed:

  ●

Although DDC is diligent in keeping parents and students informed of the many activities involved throughout the dancing year, it is sometimes impossible to relate every situation to everyone all the time.  For this reason, we ask that you check the hall bulletin board and this website for important information.  Events and activities will always be posted several weeks in advance.
