Zay, Melodee

Melodee Zay is the owner and director of DeLarue Dance Centre. Melodee has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and teacher's certification from Dance Masters of America in the styles of Ballet, Tap, and Jazz.

While at the University of Louisiana she was a choreographer and teacher for DeLarue Dance Centre and the Universal Dance Association as well as choreographer and coach of the nationally ranked Lafayette High Dance Team from 2003-2006. In the summer of 2004 she received a scholarship and attended the American Dance Festival at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

In 2006 Melodee moved to New York where she continued her dance education, performed at various venues including Judson Church, New York City Center, and Alvin Ailey. Melodee moved back to Lafayette in 2009 to become the Dance Director at L.J. Alleman Middle School. She taught at L.J. Alleman from 2009-2016 while continuing to teach at DeLarue Dance Centre.
